Stranger Things Season 1 Review

Stranger Things Season 1 Review

Its time again for a new Netflix show (these seem to keep coming on pretty fast phase and im not sure am i able to keep up with them). This one is called Stranger Things and to my understanding its based on a book that takes a place in New york - however it seems that they swapped the location, which was a good thing in my opinion.

Synopsis - On November 6, 1983 in Indiana, 12-year-old Will Byers vanishes instantly. Will's mother, Joyce, becomes frantic and tries to find Will, while Police Chief Hopper begins his own investigation. The very next day a mysterious girl with strange abilities appears, as does something dark and evil.
I'm not going write a lengthy review this time as ive struggled with motivation among other things, so i decided to do a simple bullet point of good/bad stuff and if you want more insight to the show you can watch the video review since its lot better overall and gives more context

Great

  • - Very well done soundtrack that brings good atmosphere and feel to the show
  • - Clothing, music and filming style reflects well the 80's
  • - Nancy is kinda cute <3
  • - The government was kinda weird and they didn't act very logically at times

Bad

  • - In the end i don't think there was any real twists on turn of events in the whole season, which would have created shock type of a effect, i'm not sure was this intentional however
  • - "The Clash - Should I Stay Or Should I Go" is stuck on my head now

As always i will hugely appreciate people following me on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube since that keeps me getting up in the morning to see people comment and liking stuff i do.

Marco Polo Season 2 Review

Marco Polo Season 2 Review

The very first video i ever did for the Sugi Guru channel was the Marco Polo Season 1 review, which is still most viewed video i think on the channel - don't know particularly why is that i guess i did it rather quickly and all that. But i have come long way since, improved the branding/layouts and some parts audio quality is also higher - however lets talk about Marco Polo

Synopsis - In a world replete with greed, betrayal, sexual intrigue and rivalry, "Marco Polo" is based on the famed explorer's adventures in Kublai Khan's court in 13th century Mongolia.
Continuing where we left off on the first season, Kublai had conquered all china and killed the counselor. The 2nd season continues probably around few months later the events in first season, where Marco and agents of khan are searching for the Young Emperor Boy.

This season focuses lot on Ahmad and his attempts to kill Kublai and at the same time Kaidou wants to challenge Kublai for the Mongol throne - Christians and Pope also play a small part this season (Probably bigger role in 3rd season if that ever happens).

I feel that there was a strong emphasis on certain character relationships this season especially between Marco and Kublai which seems to grow stronger and stronger per season - there was also few flashbacks, which were really important in terms of character development and giving some insight why certain people do certain decisions.

Overall the production value, music, cast of actors are great, even tho lot of people are unsatisfied with Marco Polo's actor, which im fine with (I know he isn't amazing, but he does the job).

Orange Is the New Black Season 4 Review

Orange Is the New Black Season 4 Review

Its that time of the year again where inmates of Lichfield roam around and do all types of crazy stuff. I wasn't particularly big fan of Season 3 for many reasons i thought it was too much focused on Pipers whining and mental breakdowns, which made me hate her character so much.

Luckily the screen time between all characters in Season 4 are more balanced and i rather enjoyed that - its no longer about Piper and her way of dealing with prison life. Some people said that the show had become also more Drama heavy than a comedy, but for me always it was a "Dramedy" sure there is more emphasis on real struggles of a prison life and the show portrays lot of those.
I think somehow i feel there is also a bit of "Black Lives matter" type of a vibe with this season along with general prisoner rights - Warden Caputo also plays a big part in this season (well he had major role in previous one too) and hes struggles to fight the corporate world to make prison a better place.

Caputo really wants to achieve something during his time in Lichfield and perhaps is looking for some type of a path for his life (He kinda finds that during this season) and he reflects alot on his past decisions, where he fired lot of people in Season 3 etc.

Overall very enjoyable season and maybe best so far, the finale episode was "very powerful" and it manifested lot of powerful emotions in me a lot.
